The Brewery Den Os, founded in 1765, has marked the brewing history of the city of Bruges. 

Owner of several breweries, the Van Houtryve family produced iconic beers such as the Bourgogne des Flandres. After five generations, the brewery closed its doors in 1957. 

The recipe for Bourgogne des Flandres is however passed on, under the watchful eye of Michel Van Houtryve, to other family breweries. It ended up in the 1980s in the hands of the oldest lambic brewery in the world, Brasserie Timmermans, located near Brussels. The latter was then taken over in the nineties by Brasserie John Martin.

Under the direction of Anthony Martin, Bourgogne des Flandres enters the Finest Beer Selection and today regains its former recognition, thanks to the establishment of a new brewery just a stone's throw from the original Den Os brewery.
